Welcome to St John's Church, Golcar

We are a Church of England church in the Diocese of Wakefield that welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.   We use a variety of liturgical forms to help us meet with and worship the Living Christ with the help of his Holy Spirit.   We have a wide range of activities for people of all ages from weekly coffee mornings to singing the Messiah at Christmas.

You are most welcome to join us at any of our services or events. Whether you are resident locally or just an occasional visitor to the area - we look forward to seeing you.

The Building

The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist was erected in 1829 and is set in large grounds in the centre of the village. It has been extensively and sensitively re-ordered during the last 14 years.  There is an office, kitchen, and Community Room, the latter being separated from the main body of the church by a timber and glass screen.

The Community Room is extensively used during the week by many organizations.  Sunday Club, together with Sunday Youth, also hold their activities here

The worship area has been opened out by the removal of the rood screen and pulpit and now provides an excellent, flexible space for worship and many other Church activities.
